Located at the Urbana-Champaign, the University of Illinois is the oldest co-educational public research university in the United States of America. This university has eighteen colleges under its jurisdiction that offer more than one hundred fifty streams of study. The University of Illinois is ranked the eighth- best public university in the United States of America.

John Milton Gregory is credited of having established the University & transforming it into a major interdisciplinary university as it is today. The change of the name of this university in 1982 was a historic landmark for it stressed on the individual flagship of the university within the state. Distinctive landmarks & beautiful architecture in the campus demand attention. This university is, in fact, one of the few educational institutions to own an airport. Willard airport is the one that is operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The quadrangle design of this university also makes it very popular.
