Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum

Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum

Adler Planetarium and Astronomy museum was opened in 1930. It is one of the first planetariums in the country. Since then it has been providing food for imagination for all of its visitors. The first Star Rider Theatre is located here. It has the best computer technologies that is available today and new exhibits are constantly added to keep things exciting and fresh.

Besides the permanent exhibits they bring some interesting items to display temporarily. At present they have two very interesting items in their temporary display. The first item was used by sailors. We know the difference between life and death in the sea is the navigational instrument. Before GPS the instruments that were used for navigation are on display at Adler.

Another interesting display is “Nergy”. It is the solar car that took part in American solar Challenge in 2001. There are almost five hundred solar cells in the car that can generate seven hundred watts of power. The car ran at a 25 mile per hour speed in that challenge.

They have many other exhibits related to the milky way, our solar system, Chicago’s oldest planetarium and over thousands of astronomical discovery.
